Medical Assistant – Primary Care

Location: New Hyde Park/Lake Success, NY
Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Pay: Starting at $23/hr
Schedule: Monday through Friday | Five 8.5-hour shifts scheduled between 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM

Position Overview

A well-established healthcare organization is seeking a compassionate and dependable Medical Assistant to join its primary care team in the New Hyde Park/Lake Success area.

The Medical Assistant will support physicians and clinical staff with patient intake, specimen collection, diagnostic testing, examination preparation, and in-office procedures. The ideal candidate is organized, attentive to detail, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.

Responsibilities
  • Greet patients and manage the clinical intake process
  • Accurately document patient information and medical histories
  • Measure and record vital signs
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
  • Collect and process laboratory specimens
  • Perform venipuncture and diagnostic testing
  • Perform EKGs and point-of-care testing
  • Assist physicians during examinations and office procedures
  • Sterilize medical instruments and equipment
  • Assist providers and support staff with data entry
  • Follow standard precautions when handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids
  • Properly use personal protective equipment
  • Travel to nearby practice locations when needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Medical Assistant Certificate required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience in a medical office or clinical setting preferred
  • Experience using an electronic medical record system preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred
  • Venipuncture and EKG experience strongly preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and patient-service skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
