A healthcare organization is seeking a Medical Assistant in Brooklyn, NY to support a vascular surgery department in an ambulatory care setting. This role helps ensure efficient patient flow while delivering clinical and administrative support in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.
About the Opportunity:
- Shift: Day
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 9am to 5pm
- Setting: Ambulatory Care Center
Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and coordinate patient flow to support an efficient and positive care experience
- Escort patients to exam rooms, prepare them for visits, and assist physicians during examinations and procedures as needed
- Obtain and record vital signs, perform point-of-care testing, collect specimens, and complete related clinical documentation in the electronic medical record
- Support pre-visit planning, including chart review, completion of required forms, and identification of care gaps
- Provide administrative and clerical support such as answering phones, scheduling follow-up care, processing messages, and maintaining exam room readiness and supplies
Qualifications:
- 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a Hospital or Doctor's Office setting
- High School Diploma / GED
- Certification as a Medical Assistant
- CPR certification
- EKG and Phlebotomy training
- Computer savvy
- Strong customer service, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills
Desired Skills:
- Associate's and/or Bachelor's Degree
- Bilingual
- Phlebotomy certification
- Experience with vascular surgery or other specialty care environments
