Job Summary

A non-exempt medical office position responsible for providing direct nursing care in a medical office setting under the direction of a physician, assists medical providers, and maintains a clean and safe environment in accordance with the policies and procedures of the practice.
Responsibilities
- Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources.
- Adheres to the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan and the Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement.
- Demonstrates support for the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program and adheres to federal/state laws, regulations, and corporate policies.
- Assists in assessing patient needs and health plans, including taking vital signs, history, medications, and determining chief complaint.
- Completes all necessary documentation in the patient's medical record according to policy.
- Prepares equipment and assists physicians with medical treatments, exams, and procedures.
- Administers prescribed oral medications, injections, performs venipunctures and lab testing.
- Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe environment, including cleaning, sterilizing, storing instruments, stocking rooms, and taking inventory.
- Complies with established personal protective equipment requirements for protection against hazardous substances.
- Manages administrative and front desk tasks: arranging consultations/appointments, pre-certifying surgeries/tests, answering phones, scheduling appointments, directing calls, and assisting with patient check-out and referrals.

Education
Required:
- High school diploma/GED
- Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited school or three years of relevant work experience in a healthcare setting in lieu of a Medical Assistant diploma
Certification
Required: CPR/BLS Certification
Preferred: Medical Assistant
Experience
Required: Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited school OR three years of relevant work experience in a healthcare setting in lieu of a Medical Assistant diploma OR a Current Medical Assistant certification
Preferred: Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited school and 1 year of relevant work experience highly preferred
