An established healthcare organization in New York City is seeking a Medical Assistant in Brooklyn to join their Pediatric Oncology team. This role supports patient flow, clinical preparation, and administrative coordination while helping to maintain a positive experience for children and families.
About the Opportunity:
- Shift: Day shift
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 9am to 5pm
- Setting: In-person, outpatient clinical setting
Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and families, coordinate patient flow, and help maintain an efficient visit experience.
- Escort patients to exam rooms, prepare them for visits, and assist the physician or care team as needed.
- Obtain and document vital signs, point-of-care tests, medical histories, and other visit information in the electronic medical record.
- Perform blood draws, EKGs, and other ordered clinical support tasks in accordance with provider direction.
- Provide administrative support such as answering phones, scheduling follow-up needs, preparing forms, and maintaining supplies and equipment.
Qualifications:
- At least 1-2 years of Medical Assistant experience in a hospital or physician office setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant.
- EKG and phlebotomy training.
- CPR certification.
- Experience with pediatric patients.
- Strong phlebotomy experience and comfort with vital signs collection.
- Office and administrative skills.
Desired Skills:
- Associate degree or equivalent education, training, and clinical practice experience.
- Experience in oncology or hematology.
- Customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Computer literacy and data entry accuracy.
- Experience working with electronic medical records.
