Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified Medical Assistant to provide hands-on clinical support along with administrative assistance in a patient-care setting. The Medical Assistant will work closely with physicians, clinical staff, and patients to support examinations, procedures, patient documentation, scheduling, and insurance-related activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain and document patient vital signs and assist with patient rooming.
  • Perform phlebotomy/venipuncture, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing.
  • Perform EKGs as required.
  • Assist physicians and clinical staff with examinations and medical procedures.
  • Prepare examination rooms, equipment, and medical instruments.
  • Follow established sterilization, infection-control, PPE, and safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate patient charts and medical records in the EMR.
  • Enter physician orders and prepare prescription refill requests for physician review and approval.
  • Schedule and register patients.
  • Update and maintain patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Verify insurance coverage and assist with pre-certification requirements when needed.
  • Monitor medical supplies and check expiration dates.
  • Communicate professionally with patients and families.
  • Handle telephone inquiries and route calls appropriately.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
  • Perform other clinical and administrative duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Medical Assistant Certificate from an approved/accredited school – Required
  • AHA BLS Certification – Required
  • CMA Certification – Preferred
  • Hands-on experience with phlebotomy/venipuncture preferred.
  • Experience with specimen collection, EKGs, and point-of-care testing is highly relevant.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA requirements.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience working with EMR systems preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and patient-service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
