Responsibilities:
Perform venipuncture and/or EKGs, check schedules, and organize patient flow.
Accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms and assist with walking, transferring, and dressing.
Collect and process specimens and point of care testing; prepare for exams.
Assist physicians with various procedures and take vital signs.
Relay instructions to patients and families; answer calls and provide pertinent information.
Send and receive patient medical records; obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information.
Manage charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately using EMR systems or manually.
Enter orders into the EMR system or prepare prescription refill requests for physician review.
Inventory, order, or re-stock medical supplies as needed.
Set up examination rooms and instruments in accordance with sterilization techniques.

Check expiration dates on medications and medical supplies, disposing of them appropriately.
Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures.
Comply with personal protective equipment requirements for protection against exposure to hazardous substances.
Assist in the maintenance of medical charts, including filing and organizing test results and forms.
Schedule surgeries/procedures and verify times with patients; prepare charts and consent forms.
Perform proficient phlebotomy duties as required.
Schedule and register patient appointments; update patient demographic and insurance information.
Maintain, adjust, and confirm patient office schedules.
Verify and update insurance information using internal or web sources.
Perform and verify pre-certification for procedures as necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Ability to communicate effectively with multicultural and language-deficit patients.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent telephone etiquette.
Proficient in medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of electronic medical record or billing systems preferred, but not required.
Ability to adapt to a growing and changing environment.
