Description

Pay Rate: $20 - $22 per hour

Summary:

  • Shift: M-F varies (8a-7p)

Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipuncture and/or EKGs, manage patient flow, assist with patient transfers and dressing.
  • Assist physicians with procedures, take vital signs, relay instructions to patients and families.
  • Handle clerical tasks such as sending/receiving medical records and managing charts using EMR systems.
  • Enter orders into EMR or prepare prescription refill requests for physician review.
  • Inventory and restock medical supplies as needed.
  • Prepare examination rooms and instruments following sterilization protocols.
  • Maintain logging systems for medication refrigeration, sterilization processes, and other required checks.
  • Check expiration dates on medications and supplies, disposing of them appropriately.
  • Ensure a safe work environment by following standards, procedures, and legal regulations.
  • Comply with personal protective equipment requirements for exposure protection.
  • Maintain medical charts, schedule surgeries/procedures, and prepare necessary documentation.
  • Perform proficient phlebotomy duties as required.
  • Schedule appointments, update patient demographics, and verify insurance information.
  • Perform pre-certification for procedures as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED with completion of an approved Medical Assistant certificate course.
  • Medical Assistant certificate from an approved school.
  • BLS certification required, issued by AHA.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with multicultural and language-deficit patients.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette.
  • Proficient in medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical record or billing systems preferred.
  • Adaptability to a growing and changing environment.
