Medical Assistant II
Location: Houston, TX
Pay Rate: Starting at $23.00/hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
Dean's Professional Services is seeking an experienced and patient-focused Medical Assistant II to support a leading healthcare system in Houston, TX. This is an excellent opportunity for a Certified Medical Assistant with OB/GYN experience who provides exceptional patient service and thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Responsibilities
- Welcome and interact with patients, families, and visitors in a professional, timely, age-appropriate, and culturally sensitive manner.
- Provide prompt assistance with questions regarding appointments, wait times, clinic processes, and unexpected concerns.
- Communicate with patients, staff, and providers regarding patient arrivals, delays, and clinic operations.
- Identify and address customer service concerns and assist with appropriate service recovery.
- Monitor patient wait times and notify the clinic manager of prolonged delays.
- Coordinate translation services when needed.
- Assist with maintaining efficient patient flow throughout the clinic.
- Participate in clinic and staff meetings and complete required training and development activities.
- Notify licensed clinical staff or the supervisor when additional assistance or intervention is needed.
- Maintain a professional and welcoming environment for patients and families.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- OB/GYN experience is required.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 2 years of related Medical Assistant experience required.
- Certified Medical Assistant certification required.
- Must hold one of the following recognized certifications/credentials:
- CCMA - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
- CMA - Certified Medical Assistant
- NCMA - National Certified Medical Assistant
- NRCMA - Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant
- RMA - Registered Medical Assistant
- Eligible EMT/Paramedic credentials may also be accepted.
- Knowledge of medical assistant patient care procedures, medical terminology, appointment scheduling, and customer service.
- Strong computer skills and ability to use basic clinical and office equipment.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organization, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate sound judgment.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
