Job Description
One of the premier Bariatrics clinics in the Houston Medical Center is seeking a Medical Assistant II who will perform patient care and assist clerical and administrative staff. If this is your time to make a difference in your community, apply today!
Responsibilities:
- Room patients, obtain vital signs, record height and weight, calculate BMI, and update medical histories, medications, and allergies.
- Assist providers with examinations, office procedures, and preoperative and postoperative visits for bariatric patients.
- Prepare examination rooms, clean and disinfect equipment, and maintain clinical supplies.
- Perform EKGs, collect specimens, and complete other ordered clinical tasks within training and delegated responsibilities.
- Coordinate laboratory testing, diagnostic studies, specialist referrals, and appointments required for surgical clearance.
- Track completion of preoperative requirements, including nutrition visits, psychological evaluations, and medical clearances.
- Manage patient calls and portal messages, routing symptoms and clinical questions to the appropriate licensed staff.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Two to three years of Medical Assistant experience within a clinic/physician office setting is required.
- Must have obtained Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited program.
- Must have completed High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience in Bariatrics or a specialty clinic is a strong plus.
- Experience with Epic is a strong plus.
Benefits and Perks:
