Medical Assistant Float – Senior Care

Location: North Hollywood, CA
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Hours: 40 hours per week
Position Type: Full-Time Contract
Work Setting: 100% On-Site

Are you an experienced Medical Assistant who enjoys working with older adults and wants a role where you can make a meaningful difference every day?

We are seeking a compassionate and organized Medical Assistant Float to join a collaborative senior care team in North Hollywood, CA. This position combines hands-on patient care with clinic coordination and specialty-provider support.

You'll work directly with a frail and elderly patient population, assisting with everything from patient intake and vital signs to lab specimens, wound care, specialist appointments, and clinic operations.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare patients for primary care and specialty appointments.

  • Check patients in and out and obtain accurate health information.

  • Measure and document vital signs and complete pre-exam screenings.

  • Assist physicians and specialty providers during patient visits.

  • Perform basic clinical procedures under appropriate supervision, including simple dressing changes and suture removal.

  • Collect, prepare, and process laboratory specimens.

  • Prepare exam rooms and sterilize medical equipment.

  • Document patient care accurately in the Athena EHR.

  • Review specialist schedules and help coordinate open appointment slots.

  • Maintain exam room supplies and clinical equipment.

  • Complete Emergency Cart and vaccine refrigerator checks and logs.

  • Perform required quality-control checks and maintain compliance documentation.

  • Support a fast-paced clinic while providing compassionate care to older adults.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 2 years of Medical Assistant experience working with frail or elderly patients in a clinical setting

  • Active BLS certification

  • Reliable transportation

  • Strong patient care, communication, organization, and multitasking skills

  • Comfortable working in a busy, team-oriented clinical environment

Medical Assistant Education/Certification

Candidates must meet one of the following:

  • Graduate of an approved/accredited Medical Assistant program

OR

  • Graduate of a non-accredited Medical Assistant program with an active recognized MA certification, such as:

    • CCMA

    • CMA

    • RMA

    • NCMA

    • Other qualifying nationally recognized MA certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred

  • Home Health or geriatric clinic experience

  • Experience with Athena EHR

  • Previous experience supporting specialty providers
