Position Overview
The Medical Assistant Float position travels between our three office locations: Mandarin, World Golf Village, and Middleburg. This position prepares patients for their exams by taking blood pressure, weight, temperature, and other necessary measurements and documenting the information in the medical record. This position is also responsible for monitoring supplies and making sure exam rooms are stocked, organized, and ready for patients.
Essential Job Functions
- Answer multi-line phone calls
- Greet and check in patients
- Prepare supplies and exam rooms for patients
- Escort patients to exam rooms and give preliminary instructions, and perform preliminary physical tests, & update patient history and the purpose of the visit in the medical record
- Forward calls to physicians as requested
- Enter patient information and reports into the patient record
- Verify insurance eligibility and approval for ordered treatments
- Schedule follow ups and Consults
- Respond to patient inquiries and requests for help with insurance and/or appointment scheduling
- Process credit card payments
- Mail out follow up reminders
- Reminder calls made for all labs, follow ups
- Coordinate patient appointments with referring physicians
- Track and update physician schedules
- Schedule all tests ordered by physician
- Respond to medical records requests (mail or fax)
Requirements (Experience/Education/Licensing)
- 1-2 years Customer Service experience
- Medical Assistant training and/or certification
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Detail orientation and good organizational & time management skills
- Excellent telephone skills and etiquette
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills (oral & written)
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Good computer skills: Microsoft Office, Outlook
Preferred
- Medical Office experience
- Experience with multi-line phone system
- Experience with insurance verification and medical office billing process
Hour: Monday - Friday 8:00AM-4:30PM
