Medical Assistant

Location: Escondido, CA 92025
Job Type: Temporary 6-Month Assignment
Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant supports healthcare providers in delivering efficient, safe, and patient-centered care in an outpatient clinical setting. The position assists with clinical and administrative activities, prepares patients for examinations, maintains accurate documentation, and supports the overall workflow of the medical office.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and a commitment to patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Obtain and document patient vital signs and relevant medical information.
  • Assist healthcare providers with examinations and routine clinical procedures.
  • Perform assigned clinical tasks within the scope of training, certification, and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain examination rooms, medical equipment, and supplies.
  • Assist with specimen collection and handling as directed.
  • Support medication and treatment-related activities as permitted by applicable regulations and organizational procedures.
  • Assist with scheduling, patient flow, and other administrative duties as needed.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and protect sensitive health information.
  • Follow infection prevention, workplace safety, and clinical quality standards.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, families, providers, and other healthcare team members.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Education

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant training program that meets applicable California requirements.

Required Certification

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).

Required Experience

  • Successful completion of the externship required as part of an accredited or recognized Medical Assistant program.
  • 1 year of experience working as a Medical Assistant preferred.

Work Environment

  • Outpatient healthcare/clinical setting.
  • Frequent interaction with patients, healthcare providers, and other clinical staff.
  • May require prolonged periods of standing, walking, and assisting patients.
  • Requires compliance with applicable healthcare, safety, infection-control, and confidentiality requirements.
