Medical Assistant/Certified Medical Assistant (MA/CMA) - OB/GYN Nursing Team

Upstate Community OBGYN and Midwifery is seeking a patient-centered, compassionate, dependable, and team oriented Medical Assistant/Certified Medical Assistant to join our OB/GYN nursing team.

In this role, you'll work closely with physicians and physician assistants to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a professional outpatient setting.

Position Highlights:

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM (Closed for Lunch 12:00-1:00)
  • Pay: $21.50-$30 per hour, based on experience / certification
  • Sign-On Bonus: Available for qualified full-time candidates
  • Location: Upstate Community Hospital - 4900 Broad Rd, Syracuse NY
  • No Weekends

This position is with Upstate Community Medical, P.C. and is not a state position.

Your Day-to-Day:

Patient Care

  • Welcome patients promptly and warmly.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for their appointments.
  • Take vital signs and update:
  • Health history
  • Medication lists
  • Care team information
  • Answer patient questions or direct them to the appropriate provider.
  • Accurately document patient information using EPIC
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.

Preparing for Appointments

  • Review the patient schedule and appointment list in EPIC.
  • Prepare patient charts before appointments.
  • Obtain imaging and laboratory results.
  • Contact referring offices for office notes and diagnostic test results.
  • Make sure records are available for the physician to review before the patient''s appointment.
  • Clean and prepare exam rooms between patients.
  • Keep rooms stocked with supplies

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • 1 or more years' experience in medical assisting (required)
  • Medical office assistant certification/diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college course in medical assisting (required for CMA only)
  • Epic experience (preferred)
