Description

River Ridge Dermatology is seeking a dependable, motivated Medical Assistant to join our clinical team. This position works directly alongside our providers and other clinical staff to provide high-quality, efficient, and compassionate care to our patients.

The ideal candidate is organized, comfortable working in a fast-paced medical environment, and committed to providing an excellent patient experience. Previous medical office or clinical experience is preferred. Dermatology experience is a plus but is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist dermatologists with patient examinations, treatments, and procedures
  • Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for their visit
  • Obtain and document vital signs, height, weight, medications, and other pertinent patient information
  • Scribe for the dermatologist and accurately document information in the electronic medical record
  • Assist with dermatologic and surgical procedures, including biopsies, excisions, skin tag removal, chemical peels, and other in-office procedures
  • Prepare patients, instruments, supplies, and examination rooms for procedures
  • Administer injections and medications as ordered by the dermatologist and permitted by applicable law and practice policy
  • Prepare and collect laboratory specimens for testing
  • Document examination findings and clinical information as directed by the provider
  • Clean, sanitize, stock, and prepare examination and procedure rooms between patients
  • Provide appropriate patient instructions before and after procedures
  • Follow up with patients regarding procedures, medications, laboratory results, and other clinical needs as directed by the provider
  • Assist with prescription and medication-related communications
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
  • Follow infection-control, patient-safety, HIPAA, and practice policies
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, medical assistants, and administrative staff
  • Perform other clinical and administrative duties as needed to support patient care

Qualifications

  • Previous medical or clinical experience preferred
  • Medical Assistant certification or training preferred but not required
  • Dermatology experience is a plus
  • Experience with electronic medical records and medical scribing is preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and maintain accuracy in a busy clinical environment
  • Professional, dependable, and team-oriented
  • Comfortable assisting with minor surgical and dermatologic procedures
  • Commitment to providing a positive and respectful patient experience
