Matrix Providers is hiring a Medical Appointment Clerk to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to our Military Service Members and their families in at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, MD

• Employment Status: Full-Time
• Compensation: $23.42-24.65 plus H&W $5.09
• Schedule: Monday through Friday – 7am-3:30pm or 7:30am-4pm
• Clinic: Internal Medicine
• System: Genesis

The Medical Appointment Clerk must have and meet the following:

• Degree/Education: High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency. Basic medical terminology required.
• Equivalency Determination Request: The Contractor may request an equivalency determination as a substitute for education requirements on this labor category.
• Certificates: Basic Life Support (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
• Experience: Must have a minimum of one-year professional experience in medical office scheduling.

Medical Appointment Clerk Core Job Duties:

• SUMMARY: Schedules appointments in a government computer system for primary care, specialty and subspecialty medical care. In addition to scheduling requested appointments, this position will call patients or respond to secure messaging submissions to schedule, reschedule, and/or cancel appointments as needed, to include appointments for consult/referral specialty care within the MTF or at civilian facilities

• Required Qualifications

• Minimum typing speed of 50 WPM.
• Proficient in computers, data entry, word processing, and standard office equipment.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and medical documentation.
• Experience maintaining, reviewing, and verifying patient medical records and healthcare data.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and provide exceptional customer service in a fast-paced clinical environment.

• Key Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and front-desk support, including patient check-in/check-out, appointment scheduling, and follow-up coordination.
• Answer 25-35 daily phone calls, assist 50+ patients/visitors daily, and manage 50+ secure patient messages daily.
• Coordinate patient referrals, specialty appointments, and care with internal and external providers.
• Process 50+ daily medical data forms, maintain electronic medical records, scan clinical documents, and ensure data accuracy.
• Schedule 20-30 patient appointments daily while maintaining clinic records, reports, and workload statistics.
• Support clinic operations through quality assurance activities, meetings, training, and other administrative functions as assigned.
• Effectively manage multiple priorities while supporting a busy healthcare team serving 268+ military, civilian, and support personnel.
