Building on the strengths of over 1,100 individuals in the greater Capital Area and their families, we work to identify barriers of access to find creative solutions to develop meaningful community engagement.The role of the Medicaid and Benefits Specialist is to provide coordination of service levels needed by clients/consumers in the agency. This position will serve as the point person between the departments of the agency who have clients with Medicaid or Eligibility benefits under BDS and the Business Office for Medicaid funding and denial. This role provides all necessary problem solving for pending approvals with the state and works collaboratively with all internal and external stakeholders. This role ensures that Community Bridges provides and ensures standardization among processes used by the agency for eligibility under Medicaid.Qualifications:Education: Associate's Degree in Human Services or related field required; Bachelor's Degree preferred. Equivalent 2 to 4 years of Medicaid/eligibility experience may be substituted for degree. Experience: Previous social service and Medicaid experience required. Must know and have current knowledge and understanding of service coordination processes for funding and budgets as they relate to services with DHHS. Must be able to work collaboratively with service coordinators and finance on process and procedures as they relate to Medicaid funding. Ability to read, understand and communicate budget reports to others is essential. Basic understanding of Medicare, and Managed Care Organizations of NH is recommended, but not required. Compensation and Benefits:There is a $1000 sign-on bonus for this position - $500 will be paid at the time of hire and $500 will be paid after 6 months in the role. *Please note, sign-on bonuses are for new hires only. Re-hires and transfers are not eligible at this time.Paid Time Off: For a full-time employee working 40 hours a week, 264.16 hours of Paid Time Off is received per year! Collaborates with Rep Payee to ensure timely re-determinations are completed and requested proofs are obtained for programs such as Medicare Savings, Snap and Cash Assistance.Maintains a lapsed Medicaid report that is provides the current status of individuals without Medicaid or waiver coverage. Distributes report to management.Provides lapsed Medicaid case information for the weekly Fiscal agenda.Serves as back-up to the Funding Specialist for Fiscal agenda preparation, distribution and Renewal budget information.Provides support to staff in the Individual and Family Support Department and all other departments through consultation as necessary in relation to Medicaid redeterminations and benefits. Maintains 3-year spreadsheet of upcoming Individuals to receive services and their Medicaid eligibility status. Works with NH CarePath staff to navigate requirements for Individuals to obtain Medicaid prior to the start of services.Assists and provides documentation as needed to keep Medicaid active for billing. Works as the direct liaison between the Individual and Family Support Department and DHHS in relation to all Medicaid applications, denials, questions and concerns that become escalated.Creates and provides an ongoing training series around Medicaid and benefits through a variety of tools such as in-person trainings for staff, workshops for individuals/families and webinars etc. Meet with new Service Coordinators to provide introductory education regarding Medicaid and public assistance benefits.Participates in ongoing NH CarePath meetings quarterly and reports out pertinent information to the Individual and Family Support Department after each meeting. Participates in weekly DAADS meeting with BDS assigned Liaison.Services as point person for CMS PERM audits.Participates in Community Bridges outreach efforts, such as local Transitional Fairs.Utilizes a person-centered approach when assisting families/individuals to make the necessary connections to the Department of Health and Human Services. Will be on Intake committee for resource on Medicaid and eligibility needs/questions as they relate to intake and complete process of supports for clients in agency.Develops and maintains contact with appropriate professionals in entitlements agencies.Other duties and projects as assigned. Required Skills:Knowledge of Medicaid rules and regulations, will stay current with any changes/updates.Knowledge of applicable DHHS rule and regulations.Must maintain confidentiality at all times in all aspects of work related to the Agency, affiliates and business operations.Excellent interpersonal, customer service and verbal & written communication skills.Must be accurate, detail oriented and possess excellent organizational skills.Ability to analyze, interpret and communicate information relating to duties and responsibilities.Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to communicate thoughts and ideas in a group or one to one forums.Must be able to complete accurate work and meet tight deadlines.Ability to independently manage multiple work tasks.Knowledge of Community Bridges mission, values, policy and procedures.Must be highly organized and detail oriented.Proficiency with MS Office 2000 suite. Work Environment & Physical DemandsLocal vehicle travel in the performance of approved duties. Work environment: Must be able to maintain a positive and professional demeanor in a busy program environment.
