POSITION SUMMARY:The Med-Surg Clinical Supervisor works closely with the Director of Med-Surg to provide overall support for the Med-Surg nursing staff and acts as a resource to Med-Surg nursing staff. The Med-Surg Clinical Supervisor identifies the education needs of individual staff members and/or the Med-Surg unit as a whole and plans and implements educational offerings. The Med-Surg Clinical Supervisor conducts performance reviews and collaborates with the Director to improve the overall performance of the Med-Surg department. The Med-Surg Clinical Supervisor oversees the orientation and precepteeships of new employees. This position oversees annual skills/competency testing and assures orientation of nursing staff to new equipment and procedures. The Med-Surg Clinical Supervisor assists in conducting and actively participates in Med-Surg staff meetings. This position reviews and may assist in the revision of Med-Surg policies and procedures. The Med-Surg Clinical Supervisor may assist in patient care and will have scheduled time during each pay period to accomplish education, compliance, and clinical support responsibilities.
