Description
We are seeking an experienced MECM Automation/API Engineer to provide engineering ownership of the Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) platform capabilities required to support enterprise automation and integrations.
This resource will be responsible for enabling, configuring, securing, monitoring, and supporting MECM APIs and automation interfaces, including AdminService/REST, SMS Provider/WMI, and PowerShell.
Responsibilities include managing authentication and role-based access, validating API functionality and usability, troubleshooting MECM-side integration issues, monitoring service health and performance, developing utilization and availability reporting, and ensuring MECM automation services are resilient, recoverable, documented, and operationally supportable. The scope is specifically focused on the MECM platform and its interfaces; development of downstream applications, workflows, or automation consuming MECM APIs is outside the primary scope.
Job Responsibilities
Configure and operationalize MECM APIs and automation interfaces.
Establish secure authentication, authorization, service-account, certificate, and role-based access controls.
Develop API health checks and validation procedures for availability, connectivity, and functionality.
Implement monitoring and reporting for API utilization, availability, performance, failures, and service health.
Establish troubleshooting procedures, operational runbooks, and technical documentation.
Identify and remediate MECM-side integration and API reliability issues.
Implement resiliency, recovery, and service-continuity practices for MECM automation capabilities.
Provide documented standards and guidance for teams consuming MECM APIs.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on MECM/Configuration Manager engineering or administration experience in a large enterprise environment.
- Strong experience with MECM AdminService/REST APIs, SMS Provider/WMI, and PowerShell automation.
- Experience with REST APIs, HTTPS, authentication/authorization, certificates, service accounts, and role-based access controls.
- Strong PowerShell scripting and MECM troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with MECM monitoring, logging, SQL/SSRS reporting, and operational health reporting.
- Demonstrated experience supporting highly available, resilient, and recoverable enterprise infrastructure services.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot complex MECM platform and API/integration issues and work effectively with Security, IAM, infrastructure, and automation teams
