    Mission

    We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Mechanical Disassembly Technician to perform the tear-down and systematic dismantling of train cars and passenger rail vehicles according to project specifications and work instructions. This role requires mechanical aptitude, precise tool handling, and a strong focus on component preservation.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Vehicle Tear-Down & Dismantling: Systematically remove interior components, panels, fixtures, equipment, cabling, and internal sub-assemblies on both upper and lower levels of train cars.

    • Component Preservation: Safely remove, handle, and preserve customer-facing, high-value, or reusable components to prevent unnecessary damage.

    • Fastener & Hardware Removal: Safely extract rivets, panels, and various standard/security fasteners using power drills, socket sets, Torx/security bits, hex keys, and specialized hand tools.

    • Cable & Wiring Handling: Disconnect and carefully manage large cable bundles, wiring harnesses, and associated hardware.

    • Quality & Damage Reporting: Identify damaged components or unexpected tear-down conditions (such as stubborn sealants/adhesives) and immediately report them to team leads or supervisors.

    • Material Disposition: Sort, route, and set aside components for retention, quality assurance inspection, or scrapping according to project guidelines.

    • Safety & Workplace Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized work area and collaborate effectively with fellow technicians working in multi-zone vehicle setups.

    Profile

    Required Tools & Equipment Experience

    Technicians must be comfortable selecting and operating a wide range of mechanical hand and power tools, including:

    • Standard mechanic hand tools (wrenches, socket sets, wire cutters)

    • Specialized drive bits (Allen/hex, Torx, security Torx, star bits)

    • Power drills and drill bits optimized for rivet removal

    • Hand tools for precision fastener removal where power tools risk damaging surrounding materials

    Required Qualifications

    • Mechanical Aptitude: Hands-on experience operating a variety of power and standard mechanic tools.

    • Relevant Experience: Background in mechanical disassembly, assembly, maintenance, manufacturing, automotive, rail, industrial, or construction environments.

    • Instruction & Blueprint Reading: Proven ability to follow technical work instructions and verbal direction accurately.

    • Fastener Knowledge: Ability to identify common industrial fasteners and select the appropriate removal tooling.

    • Teamwork & Detail Focus: Strong attention to detail with the ability to work safely and cooperatively in shared industrial spaces.

    • Physical Capability: Ability to work comfortably in a physically demanding, fast-paced industrial environment (including bending, reaching, and working on upper/lower vehicle levels).
