Job Title: Mechanical Technician III
Location: Newton, NC – 100% Onsite
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Occasional overtime required)


Position Summary:
The Mechanical Technician III will support Engineering Projects focused on installing, debugging, and commissioning new manufacturing equipment for capacity expansion. This is a hands-on mechanical role involving equipment installation, troubleshooting, process improvements, and collaboration with engineering, operations, vendors, and suppliers to ensure successful production line startups. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support installation, startup, and debugging of new manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair of:
  • Hydraulics
  • Pneumatics
  • Pumps
  • Motors
  • Conveyors
  • Bearings
  • Gear systems
  • Align, test, and calibrate newly installed equipment.
  • Analyze mechanical failures and determine root causes.
  • Design and implement mechanical improvements to increase equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Manage installation activities to meet project milestones and timelines.
  • Develop engineering and operational documentation.
  • Support spare parts identification and inventory management.
  • Train operations personnel on new equipment and process changes.
  • Work closely with vendors, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure compliance with plant safety standards and OSHA regulations.

Required Qualifications:
Education:

  • Associate’s degree required
  • Experience
  • 3+ years of mechanical experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience installing and commissioning new production equipment
  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Startup/commissioning experience is preferred

Required Technical Skills:

  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Bearings, conveyors, motors, and gear systems
  • Mechanical installations and equipment commissioning
  • Blueprint and schematic reading
  • Root cause analysis
  • Preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Microsoft Office
  • Basic CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) experience
  • Knowledge of industrial safety practices

Preferred Skills:

  • Commercial manufacturing equipment experience
  • CAD experience
  • Project leadership or project coordination
  • Vendor and supplier management
  • Equipment installation and line startup
  • Financial or milestone tracking on projects

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Millwright
  • HVAC
  • Welding
  • OSHA Certification

Travel:
Local travel between Newton, NC and Hickory, NC project locations.
Work Schedule:

  • Monday–Friday
  • 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • 40 hours/week
  • Overtime and occasional off-hours work required during project installations and equipment startups.
