Mechanical Technician III

Record technical history as required by the workgroup, including the Global Reliability Tool (GRT), data sheets, and other applicable records. Assist mechanical engineers in planning and testing mechanical components, equipment, and machinery, such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, and machines.

Compensation: $50/hr
Location: Carlsbad, NM
Schedule: 5/2, 40 hours per week with approved overtime; no more than 16 hours per day
Target Start Date: ASAP
Tentative End Date: One year from starting
Scope
Technicians are assigned to carry out maintenance work as an ExxonMobil (XOM) employee or contractor resource. Typically reports to a supervisor.
Key Responsibilities

• Estimate workload to establish completion dates.
• Assist mechanical engineers in planning and testing mechanical components, equipment, and machinery, such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, and machines.
• Help prepare proposals and cost estimates.
• Actively participate in the use of all on-the-job safety tools.
• Review job packs.
• Identify safety issues associated with the job and ensure removal or mitigation before working.
• Execute work as planned.
• Record technical history as required by the workgroup, including the Global Reliability Tool (GRT), data sheets, and other applicable records.
• Provide feedback on job pack improvements to the Execution FLS.
• Request permits and notify the supervisor if a permit cannot be issued within 30 minutes of the requested time.

Skills and Qualifications

• Discipline-appropriate certification(s), if applicable, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely describe field conditions and recommend remediation steps.
• Effective teamwork when working with individuals over whom the technician has no direct authority, with a willingness to assist others.
• Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
