Role Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Technician responsible for operating and maintaining an Air Separation Unit (ASU). This role will support plant production, operating efficiency, regulatory compliance, safety, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of plant equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain the safe operation of an Air Separation Facility.
  • Control flow purities, pressures, and processes using SCADA, HMI, and PLC systems.
  • Adjust flows and production rates to support production requirements.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
  • Perform quality assurance functions associated with products.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records.
  • Identify potential problems from collected data.
  • Determine when immediate maintenance action is required.
  • Perform complex plant functions, including DERIME and warm plant start-ups.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance throughout the plant.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate process and system problems.
  • Maintain compressors, pumps, turbines, valves, motors, electrical equipment, and other plant equipment.
  • Troubleshoot PLC, DCS, computer interface stations, control valves, pneumatic and electronic control equipment, and instruments.
  • Perform maintenance of instrumentation and electrical systems.
  • Support environmental, safety, quality assurance, and FDA compliance systems and programs.
  • Perform spare parts, preventive, predictive, and proactive maintenance activities.
  • Assist with safety incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Perform administrative functions including requisitioning, purchasing, production accounting, purchase order closure, receiving, and payroll record-keeping.
  • Work overtime and off shifts when requested.
  • Share on-call responsibilities.
  • Work alone, weekends, and holidays as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years technical college or military technical experience.
  • 2+ years of operating an Air Separation Plant or related industrial experience.
  • Ability to work independently to troubleshoot, diagnose, and solve issues with process and plant equipment.
  • Ability to recognize plant process problems and interpret malfunctions.
  • Ability to use common hand tools and test equipment necessary for repairing and replacing mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on and repairing AC compressors, sealers, and pumps.
  • Understanding of water treatment principles and equipment.
  • Basic understanding of refrigeration systems.
  • Basic understanding of air separation and associated technologies.
