Job Overview
· Play a hands-on role in the development of medical products for image-guided surgery.
· Work closely with Mechanical Engineers in a laboratory environment.
· Build, assemble, troubleshoot, test, evaluate, repair, and maintain complex mechanical and electromechanical systems.
· Support product development from early prototypes through verification, validation, and production readiness.
Key Responsibilities
· Perform hands-on assembly, build, troubleshooting, and evaluation of complex mechanical and electromechanical systems.
· Work with large capital equipment, prototypes, machines, production hardware, and test setups.
· Support system bring-up, debugging, testing, verification, and validation.
· Follow applicable Quality System requirements.
· Inspect mechanical parts and assemblies using engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerance principles.
· Troubleshoot system-level mechanical/electromechanical issues.
· Perform failure analysis, identify root causes, and support corrective actions.
· Perform repair, preventive maintenance, refurbishment, and equipment modifications.
· Maintain documentation for equipment configurations, issues, repairs, changes, maintenance, and test results.
· Create and update: Work Instructions, Bills of Materials (BOMs), Qualification Reports, ECO Documentation, FMEA Inputs
· Fabricate or modify simple parts, fixtures, and test setups.
· Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Service, and Test teams.
Must-Have Qualifications
· Ability to read mechanical drawings, understand tolerances, and perform mechanical inspections.
· Hands-on experience working with: Machines, Prototypes, Test setups, Production hardware
· Ability to work independently in a lab while collaborating with Mechanical Engineers.
· Strong experience assembling, troubleshooting, and evaluating complex mechanical/electromechanical systems.
· Familiarity with motion and drive systems, including: Rotary & linear bearings, Ball screws, Chains & belts, Gear reducers, Servo motors, Stepper motors
· High school diploma or equivalent with 4+ years of relevant hands-on technical experience.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams
· Comfortable with email communication, electronic documentation, and corporate IT systems.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
· Experience collaborating across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Service, and other functions.
· Basic machine shop experience, including manual machining and fabrication.
· Experience with: Product development, Prototype builds, Verification testing, Production support
· Experience with large capital equipment, motion systems, or electromechanical assemblies.
· Experience with: X-Ray systems, Medical devices, Cable building, Soldering, PCBA repair
· Familiarity with SolidWorks.
· Familiarity with Agile PLM.
· Experience with electromechanical and motion assembly of large capital equipment systems.
