    Description

    Our client is an established consulting engineering firm in Raleigh, NC, seeking an HVAC/Mechanical Project Engineer (PE) to join their growing team. This role keeps you hands-on in design while giving you ownership of project delivery and a defined path to lead the mechanical fit-up group. The ideal candidate enjoys mentoring others, takes pride in technical quality, and is ready to step into team leadership with hybrid flexibility built in.

    Job Responsibilities -

    - Direct HVAC design for commercial tenant improvement, renovation, and institutional projects.

    - Complete load calculations, select systems, and size equipment, ductwork, and piping.

    - Develop and review construction documents and specifications in Revit.

    - Oversee project scope, schedules, and design budgets in coordination with clients and architects.

    - Collaborate with electrical, plumbing, and fire protection teams on coordinated designs.

    - Verify designs meet applicable codes and industry standards.

    - Mentor junior designers and engineers and provide quality review of their work.

    - Support construction administration, including submittals, RFIs, and site visits.



    Job Requirements -

    - Active North Carolina PE license, or ability to obtain NC licensure by comity.

    - 5+ years of HVAC design experience in a consulting environment, including independent project management.

    - Commercial HVAC design experience with rooftop units, heat pumps, VAV, and VRF systems.

    - Proficiency in producing and reviewing construction documents in Revit and/or AutoCAD.

    - Strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills.

    - Desire to lead a team while staying actively involved in design and production.

    - Experience leading tenant fit-up and renovation projects preferred.

    - Background mentoring staff, planning team workloads, and managing multidisciplinary projects preferred
