Mechanical Project Engineer P.E.
Location: Deerfield Beach, FL- Hybrid (2 days a week on-site)
Status Direct Hire
Experience: 9+ years of experience and Professional Engineer (P.E.)
Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join a growing engineering team supporting healthcare and building-design projects. This role is ideal for a seasoned mechanical engineer with strong experience in architectural/engineering consulting, project management, client communication, and mechanical building systems.
The successful candidate will serve as a technical leader for mechanical engineering projects, working closely with clients, project teams, and other engineering disciplines to deliver high-quality solutions from design through completion.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage mechanical engineering projects, with an emphasis on healthcare and building-design projects.
- Serve as the primary mechanical engineering resource throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop and review mechanical designs, calculations, specifications, and construction documents.
- Coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, electrical, structural, and other project disciplines.
- Provide project management, including scheduling, budgeting, coordination, and quality control.
- Communicate directly with clients to understand project requirements, provide updates, and resolve technical issues.
- Represent the mechanical engineering discipline during project meetings and client discussions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.
- Evaluate construction costs and life-cycle considerations related to mechanical systems.
- Participate in project planning, design reviews, and construction administration activities.
- Ensure projects meet applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and quality expectations.
Preferred Experience- Healthcare and institutional building design.
- HVAC and mechanical systems.
- Architectural/engineering consulting.
- Project management and client relationship management.
- Experience leading or mentoring junior engineers.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Minimum 9 years of experience in architectural/engineering consulting or a related building-design environment.
- Strong mechanical engineering and MEP/building systems experience.
- Healthcare project experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing engineering projects from concept through completion.
- Strong understanding of construction costs and life-cycle considerations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, architects, engineers, and internal project teams.
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
