Role Description:
This full-time, on-site role for a Field Service Engineer // Senior Mechanical Technician - 1 is based in North Branford, CT, USA. The role involves providing field service support for gearbox and power transmission equipment, including installation, commissioning, inspection, and repair at customer locations. Responsibilities include diagnosing mechanical and system issues, performing troubleshooting, conducting preventive maintenance, and executing mechanical adjustments and upgrades. The individual will document service activities, prepare technical reports, and communicate clearly with customers and internal engineering teams about findings and recommendations. The role also includes supporting in-house testing, adhering to safety and quality standards, and contributing to continuous improvement of service procedures and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Field Service skills, including experience working on mechanical equipment and gear drive systems at customer sites.
- Candidates should possess Troubleshooting and Technical Support skills to diagnose mechanical and system issues and provide effective solutions.
- Candidates should possess Preventive Maintenance skills to perform inspections, adjustments, and routine servicing that maximize equipment reliability.
- Candidates should possess Customer Service skills, with the ability to communicate professionally, manage expectations, and build long-term relationships.
- Relevant qualifications include experience as a mechanical technician or field service engineer, preferably in power transmission, rotating equipment, or industrial machinery.
- Hands on experience with rotating equipment (gears, compressors, pumps generator and gas/steam Turbines) is a definitive plus
- Operational field experience with turbo-machinery equipment a plus
- Field service support for gearbox and power transmission equipment, including installation, commissioning, inspection, and repair at customer locations.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and technical documentation, use precision measurement tools, and operate standard maintenance equipment.
- Comfort with travel to customer sites, working in industrial environments, and adhering to safety regulations and company procedures.
- Vocational training, associate degree, or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering technology, industrial maintenance, or a related field is beneficial.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a clean MVR
