Mechanical Patent Agent

NextStep Recruiting is partnering with a confidential global law firm to identify a Patent Agent or Technical Advisor with a Mechanical Engineering background. This role is ideal for professionals with patent prosecution experience who are interested in supporting sophisticated intellectual property matters involving cutting-edge technologies. The successful candidate will work closely with attorneys and inventors to prepare and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, draft, and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications
• Collaborate with attorneys, inventors, and clients to develop patent strategies and protect intellectual property
• Analyze technical inventions and conduct patentability and prior art reviews
• Support a variety of intellectual property matters involving mechanical engineering technologies

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• 2-5 years of patent prosecution experience
• USPTO registration or eligibility to sit for the USPTO registration exam
• Experience with automotive control systems, oil & gas tools, medical devices, or similar mechanical technologies
