Education / Technical Training
Completed Technical Education in Mechanical Engineering Technology / Mechatronics.
Required / Preferred Technical Knowledge
Advanced reading of technical drawings and tolerances; metrology (caliper, micrometer, dial indicator, alignment); advanced hydraulic and pneumatic systems; industrial lubrication; welding (SMAW, MIG and TIG), when applicable and authorized; machining/fabrication of small parts; lockout procedures and APT / Work Permit practices.
Experience
5 years (preferred) of industrial mechanical maintenance experience, with technical leadership during critical shutdowns.
Professional Experience / Technical Competencies
Solid experience in a manufacturing environment involving diagnosis and correction of complex failures; equipment overhauls and improvements; parallelism/alignment/calibration adjustments; adaptation of hydraulic and pneumatic components due to discontinuation; execution/validation of welding and machining of parts; work on transmission systems (gearboxes, shafts, bearings), pneumatic/hydraulic systems, and lubrication systems; complete work-order and technical-report records; conducting RCA and providing technical support to Production/Engineering/Quality; monitoring and providing guidance to Mechanical Technicians I/II and contractors.
Main Responsibilities
Provide technical responsibility for higher-complexity mechanical interventions on industrial machinery and installations, ensuring safety, high availability, and process stability. Execute and lead advanced diagnostics, overhauls, calibrations, and improvements involving mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, with traceability in work orders and support to Engineering and Quality for the sustainment and evolution of production processes.
Lead interventions during critical shutdowns: plan the sequence, resources, and safety requirements, and execute corrective actions with a focus on stable equipment return to operation.
Perform complex preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, including disassembly/assembly of equipment assemblies, fine adjustments, and functional validation.
Diagnose complex failures through symptom analysis, measurements, and interpretation of drawings/catalogs, eliminating root causes and reducing recurrence.
Perform parallelism, alignment, leveling, and machine/equipment calibration adjustments, ensuring process accuracy and repeatability.
Work with advanced hydraulic and pneumatic systems: circuit reading, diagnostics, adaptation of components due to discontinuation, leak-tightness testing, and performance testing.
Perform SMAW/MIG/TIG welding and manufacture/adjust small parts by machining when applicable, qualified, and authorized, ensuring quality and safety.
Promote improvements and modifications to machine elements based on process lessons learned (reliability, ergonomics, safety, productivity), aligned with Engineering/Quality.
Support overhauls and installation/start-up of new equipment, monitoring tests, validation, and initial stability, ensuring the required technical documentation.
Conduct root cause analyses (RCA) and action plans, monitoring effectiveness and standardizing countermeasures when applicable. Page 2
 
Monitor and provide technical guidance to Mechanical Technicians I/II and contractors, ensuring adherence to standards, safety, and service quality.
Ensure robust records in work orders/technical reports (cause, action, parts, time, recommendations) and support spare-parts/budget control when necessary.
Comply with OSHA standards regarding the work performed and internal procedures (PPE/PPC, APT / Work Permit when applicable) and maintain 5S/area organization after interventions.
