Mechanical Maintenance Technician for a metals processing facility in Augusta, GA.
This position will install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment in a heavy industrial environment while supporting commissioning and daily operations.

Direct Hire role on

What You Need:- High school diploma or GED required
- Industrial maintenance experience and stable work history
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and equipment repair skills
- Experience with gearboxes, conveyors, bearings, pumps, and hydraulics
- Ability to read technical drawings and use hand, power, and diagnostic tools
- Heavy industrial experience preferred; other strong mechanical backgrounds considered
- Rigging, welding, and fabrication experience preferred
- Ability to work in intense heat, perform physical tasks, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to wear required PPE, including a PAPR respirator
- Availability for overtime and weekend/on-call coverage every four weeks
What Your Role Will Look Like:The
Mechanical Maintenance Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment, supporting commissioning, and improving equipment reliability. Must be self-motivated, possess strong problem-solving skills, and work effectively independently and as part of a team.
- Install, assemble, and test mechanical equipment according to specifications, drawings, and technical manuals.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures, identify root causes, and complete repairs to restore operation.
- Maintain and repair large gearboxes, bulk material conveyors, pumps, hydraulic systems, and related processing equipment.
- Inspect equipment for wear, damage, and abnormal operation; replace components such as bearings, belts, valves, gears, and motors.
- Perform preventive maintenance, lubrication, cleaning, and adjustments to improve reliability and minimize downtime.
- Support equipment commissioning and startup by identifying and resolving mechanical issues.
- Assist with equipment disassembly, rebuilds, installation, and rigging, along with welding and fabrication based on experience.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, parts used, and follow-up needs.
- Work with operations, engineers, and maintenance teammates to prioritize repairs and improve maintenance procedures.
- Follow safety procedures and required PPE practices throughout the facility.
- Provide guidance to junior technicians as needed and participate in rotating weekend/on-call coverage.
