We are seeking an experienced
Mechanical Inspector for a full-time position located in San Antonio, Texas
The Mechanical Inspector will be acting as an Owner's Representative responsible for field inspection of all mechanical systems, including but not limited to, HVAC, hydronic piping, building automation systems, chiller, boilers, air handling units, plumbing systems, and fire suppression systems during construction. This position requires experience working within complex, active facilities. This role may involve reviewing engineering plans, inspecting installations, witness testing equipment and verifying the contractors deliver high-quality work.
Responsibilities:- Inspection of mechanical systems
- Compare field installations against approved construction plans, specifications, submittals, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Identify defects and deviations and issue non-conformance reports.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the mechanical subcontractors, engineers, project managers and construction managers.
- Prepare regular progress reports
- Review change orders related to mechanical systems
- Participate in project meetings to assist in resolving issues
- Witness and document equipment testing
- Oversee pre-commissioning and final commissioning
- Participate in project closeout, including but not limited to preparing and tracking punch list, reviewing O&Ms, warranties, and as-built drawings
Minimum Qualifications:- High school diploma required; Associate degree preferred
- Minimum 8-10 years' experience in commercial construction mechanical inspection, mechanical engineering or as a senior mechanical superintendent/foreman.
Skill & Knowledge:- In-depth knowledge of commercial HVAC, plumbing, hydronic piping and building automation systems.
- Familiarity with discipline-specific codes and standards (e.g., ICC, NEC, etc.)
- Ability to interpret and coordinate with third-party inspections
- Strong understanding of contract documents, technical specifications, and design standards
- Advanced ability to interpret mechanical, electrical and plumbing drawings.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for generating professional inspection reports
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to pass a TSA criminal history background check
