Mechanical Inspector
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented
Mechanical Inspector to join a precision manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for inspecting machined components, operating CMM and precision measurement equipment, and ensuring finished parts meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and established quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CMM equipment and precision inspection tools to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and inspection requirements.
- Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections of machined components.
- Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality and inspection records.
- Identify nonconforming parts and collaborate with machinists and supervisors to resolve quality issues.
- Support the calibration and maintenance of inspection and measurement equipment.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to quality and inspection processes.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe inspection area.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in quality inspection, mechanical inspection, or precision machining preferred.
- Experience operating and/or programming CMM equipment.
- Experience with PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar CMM software is a plus.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, engineering drawings, and precision measurement techniques.
- Experience using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, surface plates, and other precision inspection equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or relevant certification is a plus.
