Originally formed through Anderson Mechanical Services, Inc. and Inspiration Plumbing Company, VMG brings decades of industry experience together with a forward-thinking approach to delivering high-quality mechanical solutions.As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Mechanical Foreman to lead field crews and support the successful execution of commercial mechanical projects in the Blacksburg, Virginia area. This role is ideal for a hands-on field leader who takes pride in quality craftsmanship, safe operations, and keeping projects moving efficiently.What You'll DoLead Field OperationsLead and supervise mechanical crews performing commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, and related installationsAssign daily work and communicate production goals and expectations to field employeesPlan manpower, materials, tools, and equipment to maintain productivityCoordinate daily activities with the Superintendent, project team, subcontractors, and other tradesReview upcoming work and identify potential field conflicts before they impact the scheduleParticipate in daily coordination meetings and short-term project planningWork alongside the crew when needed to support production and project goalsDrive Safety & QualityPromote and enforce VMG safety policies, OSHA requirements, and project-specific safety proceduresLead toolbox talks and reinforce safe work practices with field employeesInspect work areas, tools, equipment, and PPE to maintain a safe jobsiteIdentify and address unsafe conditions, behaviors, and potential hazardsEnsure installations meet project drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and VMG quality standardsMonitor workmanship and verify completed work before inspectionsMaintain accountability for company tools, equipment, and materialsKeep Projects MovingTrack daily production, employee time, and completed workMonitor material needs and coordinate deliveries to prevent unnecessary delaysSupport project schedules and communicate potential challenges to the SuperintendentProvide accurate information for daily reports and project documentationCoordinate inspections, testing, and quality-control activitiesHelp minimize material waste, rework, and unnecessary labor costsCommunicate field conditions and project needs clearly with jobsite leadershipLead & Develop the CrewProvide day-to-day leadership to mechanics, helpers, and apprenticesTrain and mentor employees to strengthen their technical skills and field knowledgeSet clear expectations for safety, productivity, quality, and professionalismHold team members accountable while maintaining a respectful and team-oriented environmentEncourage strong communication and collaboration across the jobsiteLead by example through reliability, craftsmanship, and a strong work ethicWhat You Bring5+ years of commercial mechanical construction experiencePrevious experience leading crews as a Foreman, Lead Mechanic, or similar field leaderStrong knowledge of commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, or mechanical systemsAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documentsExperience planning daily work, coordinating manpower, and tracking productivityStrong understanding of construction sequencing and field coordinationWorking knowledge of OSHA requirements and jobsite safety practicesOSHA 30 certification preferred or willingness to obtainStrong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skillsAbility to perform the physical requirements of an active construction environmentValid driver's license and reliable transportationPreferred ExperienceExperience leading mechanical crews on large commercial construction projectsHands-on background in HVAC, plumbing, hydronic piping, or related mechanical systemsExperience coordinating work with Superintendents, Project Managers, general contractors, and other tradesExperience developing mechanics, helpers, or apprentices into stronger field professionalsWhat We OfferCompetitive compensation based on experienceMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off and company holidaysOngoing training and professional development opportunitiesOpportunities to advance into Superintendent and other field leadership rolesThe opportunity to work on challenging commercial mechanical projectsA collaborative, team-oriented environment where your experience and leadership make an impactWhy VMG?At VMG, we're focused on more than completing projects.
