S&S Mechanical Engineering Interns provide basic engineering and design support to company engineers. They are responsible for accurately, professionally, and uniformly designing, drafting or validating mechanical assemblies. Job Responsibilities:Understand and follow S&S drafting and documentation practices and procedures to implement part redlines into existing part and assembly drawings.Understand and follow established S&S design practices and procedures to complete design updates to parts and assemblies using SolidWorks, and other software, per the S&S Engineering Change process.Review existing part designs and provide drafting, design, manufacturability, and engineering feedback.Review and understand the design intent of existing S&S products that relate to their current assignment.Minimum Skills and Requirements:Basic understanding of design and drafting principles.Ability to modify existing drawings according to approved "redline" notes using SolidWorks.Understand part tolerancing and tolerance stack-up concepts.Ability to modify solid part and assembly models according to approved engineering changes.Ability to create new drawings of parts and assemblies.An understanding of commonly used design concepts, practices and procedures.Ability to complete basic designs with limited supervision.Ability to complete basic engineering evaluation of design concepts including free body diagrams and stress calculations. Assist the engineering team as needed in support of S&S projects and ride updates.
