At Novelis Uhrichsville, you won't be maintaining equipment from the sidelines. You'll take ownership of critical industrial assets that directly impact production, reliability, and operational performance across a complex manufacturing environment. From diagnosing chronic equipment failures to improving asset reliability, leading capital upgrades, and supporting new equipment installations, you'll play a key role in shaping how the plant performs today and into the future.

This is an opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys tackling challenging mechanical problems, working closely with operations and maintenance teams, and seeing their solutions implemented in the field. You'll have the autonomy to identify opportunities, develop engineering solutions, and lead projects that improve safety, efficiency, quality, and equipment performance.

What You'll Do

  • Own the reliability and performance of critical production equipment across a heavy industrial manufacturing facility.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical systems and equipment failures, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
  • Develop innovative, practical solutions to recurring reliability and maintenance challenges that impact production performance.
  • Partner closely with operations, maintenance, and technical teams to improve equipment availability, operational efficiency, and plant productivity.
  • Lead and support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and new equipment installations from concept through execution.
  • Provide mechanical engineering expertise across interconnected mechanical, electrical, process, and civil systems.
  • Evaluate and select replacement equipment and new technologies with a focus on reliability, maintainability, and long-term operational value.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance equipment performance, reduce downtime, and optimize maintenance practices.
  • Develop engineering standards, maintenance procedures, and repair strategies that improve safety, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously while balancing scope, cost, schedules, and operational priorities.
  • Support Novelis' commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, quality, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • 2+ years of mechanical engineering experience in manufacturing, heavy industrial, process, metals, chemical, power generation, or similar industries.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with mechanical equipment and industrial systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to identifying issues and driving solutions.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting reliability, maintenance, or asset performance initiatives in an industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, conveyors, structural systems, and industrial machinery.
  • Experience leading capital projects and managing project budgets and schedules.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Leadership experience influencing teams and driving operational improvements.

Location Profile:

Opened in 1985 the Uhrichsville facility produces flat rolled aluminum coil. The Recycling mill prepares scrap aluminum that is used in the rolling mill to create rolled aluminum coils to a desired gauge. Anneals temper the aluminum then it is leveled and sized to customer specification. Employing more than 400 people the facility produces aluminum sheet for building and construction automotive distribution transportation and consumer durable applications.
