Mechanical Engineer

Position Summary

Our client, a leading manufacturer of custom-engineered electrical power distribution and control equipment, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its engineering team in Deer Park, Texas. This position will support the design, development, and manufacturing of custom power distribution systems, motor control equipment, electrical enclosures, and engineered-to-order industrial assemblies.

The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical design experience, knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing processes, and the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and project management teams.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for electrical power distribution and control equipment.
  • Create 3D models, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and manufacturing documentation using CAD software.
  • Design electrical enclosures, mounting systems, support structures, skids, and custom industrial assemblies.
  • Develop bills of materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation packages.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers to integrate mechanical and electrical design requirements.
  • Support manufacturing operations by resolving design, fabrication, and assembly issues.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, fabricators, and vendors to ensure design requirements are met.
  • Participate in design reviews and customer project discussions as needed.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards and customer specifications.
  • Assist with prototype development, product testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluate designs for manufacturability, quality, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Maintain engineering revisions and document control processes.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of mechanical design experience in industrial equipment manufacturing, electrical equipment, automation systems, or similar industries.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or equivalent.
  • Experience creating detailed fabrication and assembly drawings.
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal design, fabrication, and manufacturing processes.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with switchgear, switchboards, motor control centers (MCCs), control panels, power distribution equipment, or related products.
  • Familiarity with UL, NEMA, NEC, and other applicable industry standards.
  • Experience supporting projects within industrial, petrochemical, energy, manufacturing, or utility environments.
  • Knowledge of thermal analysis, structural analysis, or finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and engineering change management processes.
  • EIT certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
