Mechanical Engineer

Location Toledo OHCleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer at our Toledo OH HBI location. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for providing maintenance engineering support to ensure plant equipment availability is maximized. This position will be responsible for support to the operation through analysis of equipment health and recommending strategies to increase the time between overhauls. This role serves as a technical resource for planning scheduling and execution of mechanical maintenance. This position will be responsible for supporting plant reliability using knowledge of mechanical systems to troubleshoot and decrease lost opportunities.Summary of ResponsibilitiesDesigning and specifying mechanical equipment and systems such as piping vessels rotating equipment and conveyors.Leading and supporting reliability improvement initiatives.Monitoring equipment health and plant reliability performance.Applying industry standards and codes API ASME ANSI and NACE.Conducting equipment failure investigations and Root Cause Analyses RCA.Utilizing predictive maintenance technologies including vibration analysis oil analysis thermography ultrasonics NDENDT inspection methods and motor circuit analysis.Reviewing maintenance data and CMMS information to optimize preventive maintenance programs.Supporting operations and maintenance teams with troubleshooting and technical guidance.Managing equipment reliability strategies and equipment resisters.Developing capital project justifications budgets and cost-saving initiatives.Coordinate with third-party reliability service providers.Establish Key Processing Best Practices" to improve profitability including operating conditions hardware change recommendations monitoring process conditions and unit performance reportingcomparison benchmarking.Analyze operational and maintenance equipment history to deliver improvements in critical maintenance related metrics and KPIs.Write work orders and provides input to execution of work where required.Direct and coordinate the work performed by operating employees as required for new equipment installations or testing to ensure conformity to engineering design and specifications.Other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsBachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.3 years of plant-level maintenance mechanical engineering experience with mechanical systems in the petrochemical metals or mineral processing industry.Knowledge of machinery design statistics and project management required.Excellent computer skills with high proficiency while working within the Computerized Maintenance Management System CMMS and utilizes its functionality to correlate the data for reliability analysis.Experience in predictive technologies such as NDENDT oil analysis vibration analysis thermography ultrasonics and motor circuit analysis.Effectively communicate both orally and through written text.Ability to read and constructively influence personnel in cross functional groups.Ability to work under minimal supervision and effectively manage multiplechanging priorities.Demonstrated equipment troubleshooting skills.Demonstrated skills with capital justification budget development expenditure and controls.Occasionally lifting up to 25lbs.Mobility required.
