Mechanical Engineer
Eagan, MN | $32-40/hr | Contract to Hire
Konik is partnering with a growing engineering organization in the defense industry that is seeking to add a Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and improvement of complex electromechanical products for highly regulated environments. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer seeking exposure to the full product lifecycle, from concept and design through testing, manufacturing support, and ongoing product enhancements.
The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on mechanical design, working closely with cross-functional teams, and solving technical challenges in a collaborative engineering environment.
Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems that meet performance, quality, manufacturability, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Support projects throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept through production release.
- Develop and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), document control records, and engineering change documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers, manufacturing teams, suppliers, and customers to define requirements and resolve technical issues.
- Participate in design reviews, testing activities, and technical evaluations to improve product performance and reliability.
- Support troubleshooting, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement efforts.
Mechanical Engineer Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 0-3 years of mechanical design, product development, or manufacturing experience.
- Experience with 3D CAD software; Creo Parametric and/or SolidWorks experience preferred.
- Knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, BOM management, and engineering documentation practices.
- Ideal candidates will have exposure to electromechanical product design & development, and/or experience designing within a highly regulated industry.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment while managing multiple priorities.
- U.S. Person status required (ITAR compliance required).
- This position requires eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance. Per U.S. government regulations, candidates must be U.S. citizens to be considered for clearance.
