Mechanical Engineer (Piping & Static Equipment Engineer)

Location: Sabine Pass, TX 77655
Duration: 1-3 Year Contract
Schedule: 8-10 Hours Per Day
Salary Range (DOE): $65.00 - $75.00/hr

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer (Piping & Static Equipment Engineer) to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a major Client facility. This role provides technical leadership and engineering support for piping systems, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, fired equipment, and other fixed assets.

The successful candidate will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Integrity, and Project teams to improve equipment performance, support facility reliability initiatives, resolve operational issues, and ensure asset integrity throughout the plant lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for piping systems and static mechanical equipment within an operating Client or process facility.
  • Perform equipment integrity assessments and fitness-for-service evaluations for pressure vessels, piping systems, heat exchangers, tanks, and fired equipment.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot equipment reliability, performance, and operational issues.
  • Support inspection, maintenance, repair, and turnaround activities for fixed assets.
  • Review engineering calculations, repair recommendations, equipment modifications, and technical evaluations.
  • Participate in Management of Change (MOC) processes and ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and company requirements.
  • Support capital and maintenance projects from planning through execution.
  • Develop equipment strategies, procedures, specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Integrity, and Reliability teams to identify and implement asset improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders to drive successful project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5+ years of engineering experience supporting operating industrial facilities.
  • Experience supporting Client facilities, Natural Gas Processing, Petrochemical, Refining, Midstream Gas, or Chemical Manufacturing facilities.
  • Direct experience supporting plant operations and maintenance in an operating facility environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of:
    • Piping Systems
    • Pressure Vessels
    • Heat Exchangers
    • Storage Tanks
    • Fired Equipment
    • Fixed Equipment Reliability
  • Experience performing equipment integrity assessments, inspection reviews, maintenance support, and repair evaluations.
  • Experience participating in Management of Change (MOC) processes.
  • Working knowledge of applicable API and ASME codes and standards.
  • Experience troubleshooting fixed equipment and piping reliability issues in a live operating facility.
  • Experience supporting turnaround, outage, inspection, or major maintenance activities.
  • Knowledge of asset integrity, reliability, and risk-based decision-making practices.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Integrity, and Project teams.
