Mechanical Engineer / Quality Assurance Supervisor
NIGHT SHIFT, 5pm-3am (Monday - Saturday, overtime required)

Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Night Shift Supervisor / QA Lead to oversee fabrication operations while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to established quality standards. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with experience in pipe fabrication, welding, inspection, and quality control.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and support welders, pipefitters, fabricators, and shop personnel on the night shift.
* Assign work, monitor production, and ensure projects remain on schedule.
* Provide technical guidance and troubleshoot fabrication and welding issues.
* Inspect piping, welds, assemblies, and components for compliance with drawings and specifications.
* Review weld quality, fit-up, dimensions, materials, and fabrication processes.
* Identify non-conforming work and coordinate corrective actions.
* Ensure required inspections, testing, and quality documentation are completed accurately.
* Coordinate with inspectors, NDT personnel, and day-shift management as needed.
* Conduct shift meetings and provide detailed shift-to-shift handoffs.
* Enforce safety policies and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
* Identify opportunities to reduce rework and improve production and quality.
* Promote accountability, teamwork, safety, and quality throughout the shift.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience in manufacturing, production, and/or construction.
- Ability to read/interpret blueprints.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems (piping, HVAC, plumbing, sheet metal, steel) in industrial environments.
- Familiarity with engineering analysis tools and techniques (stress/flow calculations, support design).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Good communication skills - able to work with engineers, fabricators, and field teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced fabrication/field environment, adapting to changes and working under guidance.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions during the night shift.
- Ability to identify quality issues and determine appropriate corrective action.
- Supervisory/leadership experience.
