Your impact

At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by delivering innovative solutions for some of the world's most complex infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, life sciences, and industrial projects. As a Mechanical Engineer based in Pittsburgh or Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, you'll contribute to the design and delivery of critical facility systems that help our clients operate safely, efficiently, and sustainably.

In this role, you'll support the design, development, evaluation, and specification of mechanical building systems, including HVAC, cleanroom, chilled and heating water, and process exhaust systems. You'll be responsible for delivering high-quality engineering work, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting projects from planning through startup and implementation. What you'll do

• Develop mechanical engineering designs, calculations, construction drawings, and specifications for complex facility projects
• Design and support HVAC, cleanroom, chilled water, heating water, and process exhaust systems
• Deliver engineering work in alignment with project scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams to integrate mechanical systems into overall project designs
• Support engineering evaluations, recommendations, and technical documentation
• Provide on-site assistance during system startup, commissioning, and project implementation activities
• Collaborate with clients and project stakeholders to understand project objectives and technical requirements
• Apply engineering standards, codes, and best practices throughout project execution

Here's what you'll need

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• At least 4 years of mechanical engineering design or consulting experience
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
• Demonstrated ability to develop design calculations, construction drawings, and technical specifications
• Experience using 3D modeling software such as Revit or AutoCAD

Ideally, you'll also have

• Experience with hydraulic modeling software such as Pipe-Flo or Pipe 2000
• Experience using HVAC analysis software such as Trane Trace or HAP
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months
• Experience with thermal utility plants and utility distribution systems, including steam, hot water, and chilled water systems
• Experience with utility master planning or decarbonization and climate response planning initiatives
• Experience supporting laboratory, vivarium, life sciences, pharmaceutical cGMP manufacturing, or data center projects

The base salary range for this position is $91,400.00 to $125,600.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
