Mechanical Engineer

Location: Perry, OH

Our client is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Perry, OH. This role supports the planning, design, procurement, and installation quality of mechanical systems and equipment within heavy industrial and power-related environments.

Responsibilities

  • Support planning, design, procurement, and installation quality of mechanical systems and equipment
  • Complete project-specific objectives on time under the direction of a Senior Mechanical Engineer
  • Receive and interpret instructions related to assignment objectives, complex features, and potential solutions
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
  • Assist mechanical designers and drafters in developing structural designs of equipment and piping systems using CAD and 3D design software
  • Research, design, evaluate, and support installation of equipment, systems, and processes in alignment with engineering principles
  • Conduct feasibility studies and performance analyses of equipment, components, and systems
  • Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to evaluate feasibility, operating conditions, and improvement opportunities
  • Specify system components or recommend modifications to ensure compliance with engineering design and performance requirements
  • Apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria while making minor adaptations and modifications as needed
  • Present technical information to peers and stakeholders to support operating procedures and resolve system issues
  • Provide technical expertise within discipline and assist in training internal personnel and, when required, customer personnel

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Experience in power plant, process, and/or heavy industrial design environments
  • Understanding of pipe stress analysis concepts and application
  • Strong knowledge of engineering science and technology principles and their practical application
  • Demonstrated ability in complex problem solving and critical thinking
  • Strong communication skills, including active listening, verbal, and written communication
  • High attention to detail with strong judgment and decision-making ability
  • Strong desire to learn and grow within a technical engineering environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • FE and/or PE certification, or willingness to obtain both
  • Experience in energy, chemical, and/or power generation design engineering environments
