Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Location: North Salt Lake, UT (100% Onsite Position Monday-Friday)
Duration: Contract-to-direct, long-term
Start date: ASAP
Pay range: $40-55/hr (DOE)

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with experience supporting industrial and process facilities including mining operations, refineries, natural gas facilities, and heavy industrial plants. This role involves engineering analysis, process design support, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to develop practical solutions for complex industrial systems.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a consulting environment, interfacing with clients, supporting project teams, and contributing to engineering deliverables across multiple project phases including feasibility, design, and construction support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) for industrial systems.
  • Perform mechanical engineering design and analysis for equipment, piping systems, and process facilities.
  • Support conceptual studies, feasibility evaluations, and front-end engineering design (FEED).
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Coordinate with process, civil, structural, electrical, and instrumentation engineers to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Participate in site visits, field investigations, and construction support activities.
  • Assist with equipment selection and specification, including pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, tanks, and pressure vessels.
  • Review vendor submittals and ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable codes.
  • Support project managers with schedule, budget, and technical coordination.
  • Communicate directly with clients to clarify technical requirements and support project development.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • 7–10+ years of experience in industrial engineering, industrial engineering consulting, or similar environments.
  • Experience with industrial facilities such as mining operations, refineries, natural gas plants, chemical plants, or processing facilities
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams)
    • PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams)
    • Equipment layout and piping systems
    • Process equipment selection and sizing
  • Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards such as:
    • ASME
    • API
    • ANSI
    • NFPA
  • Experience performing engineering calculations, equipment sizing, and system analysis.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills is required.
  • Must be computer literate and be proficient in MS Word, Excel, etc.
  • AutoCAD, Solidworks or other CAD software is a plus.
