Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Location: Maple Grove, MN
Employment Type: Contract
Pay Range: Up to $60.32/hour

About the Role:
Our client is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the research, design, development, analysis, and testing of complex mechanical products and systems. This role will support products including ammunition handling systems, structures, gun systems, missile launchers, mechanisms, and other mechanical devices while ensuring designs meet applicable engineering standards, military specifications, and product requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Research, plan, analyze, design, and develop mechanical products and systems.
  • Support the design and development of ammunition handling systems, structures, gun systems, missile launchers, mechanisms, and other mechanical devices.
  • Perform technical analysis, testing, and evaluation of moderately complex engineering problems using specialized equipment and computer programs.
  • Analyze and interpret design specifications, drawings, technical documents, models, and test results.
  • Ensure technical designs comply with applicable engineering standards, military specifications, and product requirements.
  • Create and maintain product parts, assemblies, and engineering drawings using PTC Creo Parametric 11 modeling software.
  • Perform mechanical engineering design, development, analysis, experimentation, testing, and product assurance activities.
  • Apply engineering theories, principles, techniques, and practices to complex portions of technical projects.
  • Develop, revise, and maintain technical documentation.
  • Provide input to technical papers, reports, and presentations.
  • Deliver technical presentations related to engineering and production support activities as required.
  • Support project leaders with the development of project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Work with internal or external manufacturing shops to support the fabrication and production of mechanical designs.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant engineering disciplines, industry practices, trends, and applications.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with applicable safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Alternatively, a Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of creating moderately complex solid models and mechanical designs using CAD systems.
  • Experience using PTC Creo or Pro/ENGINEER for mechanical design and modeling.
  • Ability to solve moderately complex technical design and development problems requiring professional engineering knowledge.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with internal or external manufacturing shops to produce mechanical designs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years and no more than 15 years of relevant work experience.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T principles, including ASME Y14.5-2009 or ASME Y14.5-2018.
  • Working knowledge of tolerance stack analysis.
  • Two or more years of experience using Creo for mechanical modeling and drawing generation.
  • Experience with product data management systems, preferably Windchill.
  • Familiarity with relevant military and commercial design standards.
  • Familiarity with current engineering software applications and technologies.
  • Experience supporting military product development or production environments.
  • Experience developing precision assembly tooling.

Clearance Requirements:

  • No security clearance requirement is specified for this position.

Additional Information:

  • This position follows a hybrid work schedule.
  • A minimum of three days per week must be worked on-site in Maple Grove, MN.
  • Tuesday and Wednesday are mandatory on-site days.
  • Monday or Thursday may be selected as the third required on-site day.
