About the Role

This position involves conducting in-depth forensic investigations, including vehicle accident reconstructions and other engineering analyses, to assist clients in resolving losses or litigation requirements. The role exists to leverage engineering principles in a variety of investigative scenarios and significantly contributes to the organization by providing expert insights and solutions. The successful candidate will work both independently and collaboratively, often in outdoor settings, to deliver high-quality engineering evaluations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical inspections and evaluations of motor vehicle crashes.
  • Conduct motor vehicle 'black box' downloads and recreate crashes using engineering analyses and simulation tools.
  • Manage forensic engineering projects from concept to completion.
  • Travel occasionally on a day or overnight basis to investigate accidents.
  • Apply engineering principles to help clients resolve losses or litigation requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • B.S. and/or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3 to 5 years of Mechanical Engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license.
  • Willingness to travel on a day or overnight basis for investigations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to efficiently complete detailed work and meet deadlines.
  • Collaborative and friendly, with the ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced educational degrees such as a master's or Ph.D.
  • Vehicular accident reconstruction (ACTAR certification is a plus).
  • Fire investigation experience and/or certification.
  • Incident investigation experience.
  • Expert witness experience.

Work Environment

  • Work involves occasional travel for accident investigations.
  • Role includes both indoor and outdoor work settings.
