CTG's long-standing Fortune 500 client of over 15 years is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to support the installation, startup, troubleshooting, and optimization of manufacturing equipment and automated production systems. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring significant time on the manufacturing floor working directly with equipment, contractors, technicians, and cross-functional teams to deliver capital projects safely, on time, and within budget. Type: Contract Job Title: Mechanical Engineer III Location: Wilmington, NC Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Wilmington, NC Pay Rate: Based on experience Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline Key Responsibilities • Lead mechanical aspects of equipment installation, startup, testing, debugging, and commissioning activities • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and resolution of equipment and process issues • Supervise engineering technicians, maintenance personnel, contractors, and trades during installation and construction activities • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, timelines, and execution strategies • Review and modify mechanical designs to improve performance, reliability, and installation efficiency • Coordinate with machine builders, system integrators, vendors, and internal stakeholders • Create and update engineering documentation, drawings, specifications, checklists, and equipment records • Procure and expedite materials required for project execution • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and operational requirements • Assess existing equipment and recommend modifications or integration solutions Required Qualifications • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience supporting production equipment • Strong hands-on mechanical troubleshooting skills • Experience working with manufacturing equipment and automated systems • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and P&IDs • Knowledge of mechanical drive systems, pneumatic actuators, and process equipment • Understanding of process variables including flow, pressure, temperature, level, and rate • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Preferred Qualifications • Experience with AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project • Manufacturing floor, industrial construction, or equipment installation experience • Project management experience including scope, budget, and schedule development • Experience supporting large capital projects • Strong presentation and leadership skills Travel Requirements • Domestic and international travel may be required • Travel duration may range from several days to multiple weeks depending on project phase • Full-time travel may be required during deployment activities Additional Information • No third party resumes will be accepted • Drug testing and/or other employment-related inquiries may be conducted • CTG will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the requirements of all applicable local, state, and federal laws. • All interested individuals MUST be able to work on a W2 Tax basis (no C2C or third party vendors) • CTG is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer • CTG is an E-Verify Company To be considered for this opportunity, please apply directly through our website by clicking the link below.
