    Mechanical Engineer III

    Location: Sullivan Park, Corning, NY
    Work Arrangement: On-site
    Experience: 7+ years
    Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Technology, or a related field
    Duration: 1 year with potential for extension
    Travel: Up to 25% domestic travel
    Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week; overtime as required

    Position Overview

    We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to provide senior-level mechanical engineering and design expertise for handling and process equipment used in a manufacturing environment.
    This is a hands-on engineering role that extends beyond mechanical design. The ideal candidate will be comfortable taking ownership of equipment through the design, build, installation, startup, troubleshooting, and debugging phases of a project.
    The Mechanical Engineer III will work closely with cross-functional teams and external vendors to ensure equipment is designed, built, installed, and commissioned safely and effectively.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop detailed mechanical designs for handling and process equipment.
    • Work closely with project teams to understand requirements, constraints, and project objectives.
    • Independently determine and develop effective engineering solutions.
    • Support all phases of equipment development, including design, fabrication, installation, startup, and debug.
    • Provide hands-on mechanical support during equipment installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and startup.
    • Verify equipment builds and layouts against engineering drawings and specifications.
    • Coordinate equipment installation plans with safety personnel and plant stakeholders.
    • Manage and coordinate mechanical and electrical trades involved in equipment installation and debugging.
    • Work directly with vendors and internal engineering teams to resolve equipment build, installation, and design discrepancies.
    • Provide technical guidance and hands-on troubleshooting throughout equipment commissioning.
    • Apply mechanical engineering principles related to mechanics, hydraulics, thermodynamics, metallurgy, structural analysis, and machine design.
