Description: Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide analytical support for preliminary & detailed designs through development validation certification manufacturing and operational serviceUse FEA and classical methods for strength stressdeflection vibration fatigue life kinematic and optimization analyses to meet design requirementsUse simulations and classical methods to predict temperatures heat transfer and fluid characteristics as needed to meet design requirementsPerform test-model correlation testing to validate analytical predictionsWork closely with environmental test engineers to support the design instrumentation selection execution and data processing of tests to validate models and predictionsPrepare technical reports to present findings to internal teams management and external customersStay current with advancements in thermal analysis techniques materials technology and industry standardsCreate and document the Structural and Thermal analytical methods for Whelen EngineeringProvide oversight and technical guidance for less experienced engineersCollaborate with other departments such as Manufacturing Engineering Test Engineering Electrical Engineering and QA to be able to solve problems related to Engineering issuesResponsible for several components of a project or a complex component of a larger projectFully developed professional able to work without direct guidance or direction from othersScopeDelivers results in accordance with goals and expectationsSatisfies internal and external customer needsAssumes responsibility & takes ownership for resultsWorks well in a Team environmentOpenly communicates about commitmentsShares information readily with team and larger departmentSolves complex problems takes a new perspective using existing solutionsActs as a resource for colleagues with less experienceAll Employees ShallComply with the EH&S Policy and applicable regulatory and company EH&S rules and requirementsReport to supervision conditions or practices that are either unsafe or that may adversely impact the environment to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazardsAttend scheduled EH&S training programActively support the organizations efforts to meet or exceed EH&S goals and plansRecommend improved EH&S practicesMust be able to communicate effectively with co-workers supervisors and third parties. Employment at-will means that an employee or the Company may terminate the employment relationship at any time for any reason or no reason at all with or without notice.Education and Experience BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field w 8 years experience or MAMS degree w5-6 years experienceExperience with Solidworks Simulation & Solidworks Flow Simulation CFDBackground in Structural Analysis & Thermal AnalysisExperience using FEM for stressdeflection vibration and performing LCF HCF Fracture Mechanics or Kinematics analysesFamiliarity with Matlab or Python or equivalent for developing analytical models and performing data acquisition & post-processingExperience with performing test-model correlation and test based characterization of critical modelling input parametersProficient knowledge of materials and manufacturing processesProficient with Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPointActive userexperience with engineering software including SolidWorks AutoCAD or equivalentExperience with PDM and PLM software and processes is also preferred
