    Job Summary:


    Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, this is a mid-level mechanical engineering position where the individual will review customer technical requirements, design electromechanical components and assemblies, create engineering drawings, and provide production support for product build.This position ensures the design projects are completed according to schedule and meet the customer requirements.  The position will be responsible for internal company support and overall quality control of engineering deliverables.  This position will also be the technical point of contact for the design projects assigned to the individual.


     


    Job Functions:



    • Work with Engineering Manager for project assignment.

    • Review the customer Technical Requirements for the assigned design.

    • Communicate clearly with the electrical and software engineers to develop the overall design.

    • Assure compliance with DRM, project requirements, and design requirements

    • Support regular product design reviews.

    • Develop mechanical and electromechanical products.

    • Assure quality of engineering deliverables.

    • Generate working prototypes for beta testing and customer demonstration.

    • Perform engineering calculations to support design work.

    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or assigned.

    • Ensure project timeline is met and project stays within budget.



    Job Qualifications:


          Experience:  Minimum of 3+ years mechanical design required, preferably in aircraft cabin or similar systems.  Experience with SolidWorks and 3D modeling in support of detail, assembly, and top-level drawings.  The candidate will have exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability.  In addition, a successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively and clearly, must be self-motivated and a great team worker.  The employee is expected to acquire the necessary information and skills to perform the job reasonably well within 90 days in the position.


     


    EducationBachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent combination of education, training and experience required.


     


          Skills:  Skills expected include strong design skills; ability to take project from concept to completion; strong verbal and written skills; and the ability to read prints and manufacturing documentation.  SolidWorks skills in sheet metal, machining, injection molding, and part design; good computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel are required.


     


          Certificates and Licenses:  None required.


     


          Problem Solving:  Continual problem solving exists in this position.  Problems include the design, debug and test of hardware designs.  Problems also arise when assisting other Design Engineers with design issues.


                                                                                          


          Decision Making:  Continual decision making exists in this position.  Decision making occurs in the design and production of company products.


     


          Financial Accountability:  Employee is responsible for the safe use of departmental tools and equipment.  Employee is not involved in authorization of departmental expenditures.


     


          Personal RelationsEmployee has continual contact with other employees and other departments in the design and troubleshooting of company products.  This position also has frequent contact with suppliers and vendors when designing and determining the proper parts to be used for company products.


     


          Supervisory Responsibilities:  This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but may train or guide others on various engineering projects.


     


          Work EnvironmentNo adverse working conditions exist.  Frequent computer use is required for this position.  This position performs work in a normal office environment, which is normally quiet conditions.  While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock when testing designs.  No other adverse working conditions exist.


     


                Physical Requirements:  While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to perform office and computer work.  The employee can be required to occasionally lift items up to 10 pounds approximately 10% of the time.  Employee must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures; ability to write reports and other correspondence; and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers
