JOB TITLE: Mechanical Engineer, Capacity Delivery
**TOP SKILLS:**
" Experience with data center mechanical systems: chillers, cooling towers, CRACs/CRAHs, CDUs, heat exchangers.
" Familiarity with Client/EPMS monitoring platforms.
" Hands-on troubleshooting capability for critical cooling infrastructure.
" Willingness to travel to project sites; this is a field-based role.


LOCATION: Candidates preferred to be in either Austin, TX, San Francisco, CA, New York City, New York, or Seattle, WA. However fully remote candidates will be considered given there is 50%+ travel required for this role regardless of home base to states including Indiana, Louisiana, Texas, New York, and others.

DURATION: Contract to hire, also Direct Hire option pending interviews
RATE RANGE: Pay rate: Market rate, target $70-110/hr
FTE Salary Range: $150-205K/year

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Mechanical Field Engineer supports data center operations by providing hands-on mechanical expertise across Fluidstack's growing portfolio of AI infrastructure sites. You will be the on-site subject matter expert for mechanical systems, ensuring high availability and reliability of cooling and related infrastructure.

  • Engineer gigawatts from drawing to energized, in months not years. Capacity Delivery owns technical execution across every build: the drawings, the field questions, and the engineering calls that keep multiple concurrent gigawatt sites moving.

  • Engineer data centers that go up in months, not years. At that pace rework is not an option: problems get caught on paper or they cost a data hall.

  • Design it once, build it a hundred times. Every site's lessons roll into the reference design on the way to 10s to 100s of GWs, so each build starts ahead of the last.

Role Scope

  • Own mechanical engineering for assigned sites: review, field support, and closeout of cooling and piping scope.

  • Review mechanical packages against the reference design and flag deviations with impact stated, not just difference.

  • Answer field mechanical RFIs in hours and turn recurring ones into design fixes.

  • Support startup and commissioning with engineering: flushing, filling, and balancing questions answered fast.

What We're Looking For

  • You've done mechanical engineering for data center or industrial plants.

  • You read P&IDs, hydraulic calculations, and equipment schedules fluently.

  • You've supported construction and commissioning in the field.

  • Your RFI answers are fast and right, in that order and both.

  • Bonus: Liquid cooling systems. PE track. Pipe stress analysis. Modular skid design.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate or annual salary only, unless otherwise stated.
