Overview:

Lutron Electronics Co., Inc. has an immediate opening for a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer in Boston, MA. In this role, you will help develop innovative, high-quality products that strengthen Lutron's position as the global leader in automated lighting and shading solutions.

 

You will join a collaborative engineering team focused on discovering new technologies, materials, design techniques, and manufacturing methods. From concept development through production support, you will contribute across the entire product lifecycle while working on products used in some of the world's most advanced residential and commercial environments.

Responsibilities:
  • Design mechanical components, assemblies, tools, and fixtures for performance and manufacturability.
  • Create 3D CAD models and engineering documentation for products and design changes.
  • Perform FEA, tolerance analyses, DFM, and FMEA to validate designs.
  • Identify and implement product improvements and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Prototype designs using 3D printing, machine shops, and supplier resources.
  • Build and test prototypes to evaluate performance and improve solutions.
  • Conduct design reviews and incorporate feedback into product designs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and launch new products.
  • Source, qualify, and support production tooling and manufacturing processes.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing, supplier, and customer issues using root cause analysis.
  • Uphold quality standards, customer focus, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Science, or related field.
  • Minimum, cumulative GPA of 3.00 for all degrees earned.
  • 5+ years of mechanical product design experience.
  • Experience using 3D CAD software in a product development environment.
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals, including statics and material properties.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes including injection molding, stamping, extrusion, forming, and machining.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Ability to work onsite in Boston, MA.
  • You are authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require Lutron to sponsor you for any work visa, such as an H-1B, either immediately or at any time in the future. Lutron does not offer work visa sponsorship for this position.

 

The salary range for this position is dependent on the selected candidate’s experience and the level at which they are hired. Starting pay: $102,500.00 - $120,000 per year; Lutron's employee benefits include 401k match, health, dental, and life insurance, paid vacation (amount based on tenure with the company), flexible spending accounts, and tuition reimbursement programs.
